Programs: Spay and Neuter

AWASA has been selected by Pima County to administer free spay and neuter to pet owners in underserved and economically depressed areas. We wish to thank the Board of Supervisors and Kim Janes, Manager of Pima Animal Care Center, for their ongoing commitment to reduce companion animal overpopulation through aggressive spay and neuter programs.

In November 2013 and 2014, AWASA received donations from Council Member Steve Kozachik's excess campaign funds for spay and neuter.  The Koz Fund certificates have been distributed to our vets for use in the month of December.  If you are in need of a low cost spay/neuter, contact one of the following vets:

Arizona Companion Animal Pet Friendly Spay/Neuter License Plate

AWASA received a $5000 grant from AZ Pet Plate to alter ferals in Pima County.  These funds are from the Arizona Companion Animal Pet Friendly/Spay and Neuter License Plate.   These funds are being spent in December 2013.  In 2014 we received a $10,000 grant to alter companion animals in a targeted neighborhood.

You can support these efforts by purchasing the specialty plate. Thank you to those in the community who have done so and to the Pet Plate Grant Board for their support. For more information about purchasing a plate or other grant recipients, go to
